Rule: Players
Each team has 7-8 players, one of whom shall be the captain. Five players from each team shall be on the court during playing time and may be substituted. Comment: Teams normally consist of two guards, two forwards and a centre. The guards are usually the smallest players, who are fast, nimble, have good ball-handling skills and shoot well. The forwards are tall, with good rebounding skills and excellent shooting skills, and play either side of the key. The centre is normally the tallest player and a very strong rebounder.
Rule: Double Dribble
A double dribble occurs when you dribble the ball with one hand and then stop and bounce it again.
Rule: Travel
Travel is when you take more than two steps when holding the ball.
Rule: Fouls
A foul occurs when you hit a person in the arm or in shooting motion. A personal foul is a player foul which involves illegal contact with an opponent whether the ball is in play, alive or dead. A player shall not block, hold, push, charge, trip, impede the progress of an opponent by extending his arm, shoulder, hip or knee, or by bending his body into other than normal position, nor use any rough tactics.
If you are fouled in the act of shooting, you are given a free throw. A free throw shall be taken from a designated foul line.
If you reach five fouls, you will be penalized and miss the remaining of the game.
Rule: Carrying
When you have the ball and you bounce it from the side or the bottom of the ball.
Rule: 5 seconds in the key
A player shall not remain in their teams' key for more than five consecutive seconds while that player's team is in control of a live ball.

Rule: Jump Ball
A jump ball is a method used to begin or resume play in basketball. One player from each team will line up for a jump ball.
Rule: Out of court
The ball is out of courts when it goes outside of the boundary line. The team who did not touch it last will take the throw in.
